Saga Museum is a history exhibition in Reykjavik, in the Grandi area by the Old Harbour. It is an indoor attraction, so it works in any weather. The museum was previously in the Perlan building before it moved to the Grandi area.
Icelandic history in lifelike figures
The exhibition recreates scenes from Icelandic history using lifelike figures modelled on real people, with costumes and sound. The scenes cover the settlement of Iceland, the age of the sagas, and later events in the country's history. Figures include settlers and saga-age people such as Leif Erikson and the historian Snorri Sturluson. Visitors follow the scenes with an audio guide, available in several languages, that tells the story of each one. There is a chance to try on replica Viking-age costumes and handle copies of old items.
