Wayfarer is an independent guide to Iceland tours and day trips. This policy explains what information the site does and does not collect when you use it. It is written to be honest about the current, minimal state of the site and will be updated as new features are added.

The short version

Wayfarer has no user accounts and does not ask you to log in or hand over personal details. We use privacy-friendly site analytics to understand aggregate page views and interactions, without advertising cookies. We do not sell personal data or use this measurement to build advertising profiles.

What we collect

Browsing the guides and trip-planning tools does not require you to provide any personal information. Like any website, our hosting provider processes basic technical data such as your IP address and browser type in server logs, for security, aggregate analytics and to keep the site running. We do not use that data to identify or profile you. Tour-link analytics contain only categorical details such as the page placement and tour or category slug; they never include search text or booking details.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use it only to reply.

Cookies

The site does not set advertising cookies. Vercel Web Analytics measures aggregate page views and selected link interactions without an advertising cookie. Booking partners may set their own attribution cookie after you choose to follow an affiliate link; no partner cookie is set merely by reading a page on this site.

Affiliate links

As the price comparison connects to operators, some outbound links will be affiliate links, explained on our affiliate disclosure page. When affiliate links are active, following one may set a cookie on the partner's own site so they can attribute a booking; that is governed by the partner's privacy policy, not ours. We receive only partner reporting about visits, bookings, and commission rather than personal booking details such as traveler names or payment information.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes the technical log data described above. Some trip-planning tools fetch public data from Icelandic sources such as the Icelandic Met Office and the road administration; those requests are made by our servers and do not send them your personal data.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Icelandic data protection law you have rights over any personal data an organisation holds about you, including access, correction, and erasure. Wayfarer does not keep user accounts, booking details or advertising profiles; our hosting provider processes the limited technical and aggregate analytics data described above. You can contact us at any time with a request.

Children

The site is a general travel-information resource and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the site grows; the current version always lives at this page. Questions about privacy can be sent through our contact page, or read more about how Wayfarer works on the about page.
