The baths stand on a west-facing cliff above Skjalfandi Bay. This orientation and elevated setting are fixed details of the site.
The history behind the sea baths
Drilling for hot water on the Husavik headland in the mid-20th century found hot seawater that was too mineral-rich for heating homes. GeoSea connects the present baths with Husavik's local tradition of meeting in geothermal pools.
