What the beer spa is
The beer spa is in Arskogssandur, a quiet seaside village on Eyjafjordur in North Iceland. It is near Dalvik. If you also want context for the wider area, see this Akureyri city guide.
Each tub takes up to 2 people. Guests can choose to share a tub or bathe alone.
What is in the bath
The bath is filled with a mixture of warm water, beer, hops and beer yeast. The operator also describes the mixture as warm water, live beer yeast, young beer, hops, natural bath salts and aromatic beer oil.
The tubs are made from Kambala wood. The bathwater does not include alcohol and is not drinkable.
How the bath ritual runs
Guests bathe in a tub for 25 minutes. After that, they move to a relaxation room for a further 25 minutes.
Age limits and the beer tap
There is no age limit for the bath itself. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
A draught beer tap sits beside each tub. The taps serve Kaldi, brewed at the Bruggsmidjan Kaldi brewery next to the spa. The beer taps are only for guests who have reached the age of 20 years.
