Fjord villages and sights
Egilsstadir, inland by the lake Lagarfljot, is the main town and a base for the region. Seydisfjordur, over a mountain pass, is known for its rainbow street and blue church. Coastal villages include Faskrudsfjordur, with its French heritage, and Djupivogur to the south. Borgarfjordur eystri, to the north, is known for puffins and the Storurd hiking area.
