Grimsey is a small island off the north coast of Iceland. The Arctic Circle crosses the island. Grimsey is the only part of Iceland that lies on it, and a large sphere monument is moved each year.

A large sphere monument called Orbis et Globus marks the Arctic Circle line and is moved each year to align with the Arctic Circle. Grimsey has a small year-round community that fishes the surrounding waters.

Getting to Grimsey
Grimsey is reached by a ferry from Dalvik and by small aircraft from Akureyri. Norlandair flies to the island from Akureyri, and the ferry Saefari sails from Dalvik.

Two guesthouses operate on Grimsey year round. The island also has a small convenience store, a cafe, a restaurant and a swimming pool.
