An Iceland stopover lets you break a transatlantic journey in Iceland with no additional airfare. This allows a visit to two destinations on one trip. Both Icelandair and PLAY offer stopover programs on transatlantic routes.
How the Icelandair and PLAY stopover programs work
With Icelandair you can book a stopover for up to 7 nights using the airline booking engine. Icelandair passengers who book a Flex fare, either Economy Flex or Saga Premium Flex, can stay up to 21 nights. The Icelandair stopover can be added on either the outbound or the inbound flight between North America and Europe. The Icelandair stopover includes only the flights, and accommodation and activities are booked and paid for separately. PLAY airlines offers a stopover in Iceland of up to 10 days on transatlantic flights at no additional cost. With PLAY you can take the stopover on either the outbound or return leg, or split the time between the two. A stopover is only possible when the itinerary connects a city in Europe with one in North America.
