Oxararfoss is a waterfall in Thingvellir National Park in southwest Iceland, part of the Golden Circle route. Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland's old assembly, the Althing, met.

Oxararfoss is in Thingvellir National Park. The falls sit close to the main Thingvellir sights, including the Logberg and the Almannagja gorge.
The falls in the Almannagja rift
It is on the river Oxara, which flows through the Almannagja rift and into the Thingvellir plain. Almannagja is a gorge along the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. According to tradition, the Oxara was diverted in the settlement era to bring water to the Althing assembly site. The water drops over rocks into a pool at the base.
The walk and the seasons
A marked path and a wooden boardwalk lead from the Thingvellir area to a viewing platform at the falls. In winter the falls and the surrounding rocks often freeze, and paths can be icy.
